Make Plastic Bags Useful with Plarn

                                                 Crochet basket with two handles
Crafty Design Week Five : Plarn

Plastic Yarn: Yarn made from plastic bags. Plastic bags exposed to air and sunshine can take between 10 and 20 years to decompose. That’s why it took over as the material of the future in the 50’s and 60’. There is always a down side however. The horrible bags tend to multiply around my house no matter how hard I try not to bring them home they’re like gremlins. No water needed.

Because plastic is so strong I use it to make something that maybe useful for the next 10 to 20 years like baskets or rugs. Here’s how you can make plarn too.

Make your own Dish Towels

Crafty Design  Recycled Dish Towels

You can make batches of fun dish towels from fabric scraps. I used old clothes to clean up around my house for years. I would leave old t-shirts under the counter to clean up spills but I still used sponges to clean the dishes. These dish towels that are easy to make and are great replacement for sponges. They are cooler than pulling out an old shirt too. You can throw these in the laundry and they work best to clean counters and the table.
